Check out the How to Read IJ and The Schedule.
Somedays a footnote may mean you are reading longer. |

| Any interest in doing some sort of every other week meetup separate from regular B&B meetings? I'm thinking something mid city. Does Town Hall or Acadia have meeting space? |

THIS IS RIDICULOUS! THIS IS A COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE AND IMPOSSIBLE TASK! WHO IS THE SADIST WHO CONCOCTED SUCH AN UNHOLY SCHEME?? THERE IS SIMPLY NO WAY A NORMAL PERSON CAN POSSIBLY FINISH THE BOOK IN THE ALLOTTED TIME!
Wait a second...
Oops, my bad -- I thought we had to be done by June 22nd.
Carry on. |

Even though it's Sept 22, I agree with you, Carter. I'm already behind.
I might be up for a half way point meet up and then still hosting the final, but I don't know if I can manage a bi-weekly discussion of it yet. Let me know if you are getting together, though. Also, let's use our forum here for as much of the on-line discussion we can. Keep reading. Hope you have A/C or a shady lane. |

I'm on page 86. My bus/light rail commute is the only thing making this possible. We'll see if I can maintain the pace.
Has anyone else encountered any other Infinite Summerites while reading in public? I had a mutual double take experience with some guy the other day at 46th St Station when I pulled my copy out of my tote bag just as he was putting his away to get on the 27. |

| I can't say that I've had any instances of mutual recognition with other like-minded individuals, but I have become considerably more self conscious about this endeavor after actually being asked why I was carrying a box of cereal around, at work yesterday. They were, of course, referring to the book...jeez. |

| Haven't run into any either, although I have received lots of sympathetic, knowing, head shakes from strangers. |

I found you on the Infinite Summer site. I'm up to Friday's deadline of p. 137. My husband found me a new/used copy at Half Price Books, so we now have his n hers copies. He read it last year (his second try). I've had what's now his copy on my shelf for 10 years but this is my first attempt. So far so good.
I'd be interested in monthly meetups, or six-weekly. anyone else in NEMpls?
As for doorstop shelfsitters, I'd be up for Anna K, W & P, anything by
Dickens, and how about Stephenson's Baroque Cycle?
I read DQ a few years ago when someone did an online Infinite-Summer like thing for it; totally worth it. |

| I'd say if we ever get to Dickens, we should do Bleak House. Very long. But I loved it when I read it. Little Dorrit would also be a good choice. |

| Try being laid up sick for a week...it's great for making progress on the I.J. project. Of course, the slightly delirious effects of being sick and reading I.J. mean that I've created my own twisted story line of the already convoluted plot. |

| I think it would be interesting to see where everyone is at. I am on page 95. A little behind schedule, but I started late. Am slowly catching up. |

I'm behind on page 55, but that's after only one day of doing this. In my first public appearance with the book I already found out it was a neighbor's all time-fave. She gave her copy to a friend after DFW's death, but she still has passages she remembered. Hopefully she'll check out B&B, too.
I'm enjoying it so far, but have not gotten past the part where I first
gave up years ago. I do think this kinda support group is the way to tackle these tomes. |
