I read H.G. Wells' The Time Machine this weekend and was struck by the similarities between his future society and life on Rakhat.

I know a lot of us liked The Sparrow quite a bit, so I thought I would recommend an obviously influential story. At around 100 pages, it is definitely worth checking out. It has barely any similarities to that horrible 2002 movie, so don't let that scare you off.

I loved this story as a kid. Great stuff. The old movie is not horrible either.
