I can't take it anymore! I'm going to have to read one of Jodi Picoult's books just so I know what the heck everyone is talking about. Her name is everywhere! It seems like the big one is My Brother's Keeper, so I'll give that a try. Apparently it is soul-crushingly sad, which is right up my alley.

So...since I'm the 'hater' who slammed Jodi Picoult...I will confess to having read Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner, Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella and legions of Harlequin romances as a pre-teen (my sad and inadequate sex education).
I will also confess that I'm scared to read any of her books for fear that I will like it and then cannot be self-righteous any longer...

The JP banter is quite hilarious I must say. I haven't read any of her books, so I can't really say either way. I could be convinced to read a chapter if someone brings in one of her books. Or maybe Jeff could read a page or 2 to us.

My Confession:

I've read Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews 4 times! It started when I was 13. And I read a few of the sequels, & then I guess I was no longer a teen or something & was able to move on.

Okay I feel better now.

Okay Shelly, "good in bed" was a book club pick so that doesn't count as a true confession. Spill it.

I also have read Danielle Steele and James Patterson. Maybe I could join the book club that Text's mom belongs to as well as B and B.

I don't know rdspty01...what more do you want from me? Blood? Boxes of Harlequin romances aren't enough? What about confessing to reading AND liking the Woman's Day magazines that my grandma used to pass on to my family...the one page romance and the mini-mystery being my must-reads.

I'm trying to think of something to confess, but I have no idea what I should even feel guilty of. I'm looking over my bookshelf right now for something which I would hide if I was inviting a girl over to my house for the first time. That list is long, but it doesn't include any books.

Wait! I just spotted one. The Essential X-Men! Well, that was bought more out of nostalgia for 1979, when I was totally into them. Ooh, here's another one! Yoga for Dummies! If she asks me about my yoga skills, she might find out that I am the world's least flexible person and can't even cross my legs. That's not sooo bad on the embarrassment scale, though.

Oh, I've got it! Some friends of mine gave me Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in an attempt to cheer me up when my girlfriend dumped me and moved back to Australia. They thought it was appropriate because of his frustrated and melancholy refrain:

"I think I'll move to Australia."

They were right -- I am such a sap. Maybe I should hide the evidence.

Couple things: I do know who you are Picoult fan, but I can keep you a secret if you really wanna play that way Wink

I, too, read comic books, graphic novels, etc. I love Spider-Man, X-Men, Ultimates, New Avengers, etc. (Make Mine Marvel!) I also thought maybe that was a confession worthy thing. But then again, no. It's nothing to be ashamed of, though it does usually take a little "puffing up" or "pitching" to another person. (Especially a woman, as I know precious few who read comics. Actually I think I know only one.)

But wait, forget the parenthetical - I was talking to The Hater/Lover about this the other night. He reads comics, too. I think I challenged him to find a woman who does. So, here is the space, ladies. Anyone reading this ever read a graphic novel or comic book once in a while?

It's okay (and no surprise) that you know who writes what here. But you made a great segway into the comic book discussion and guess what? Jodi Picoult has written some Wonder Woman comics lately. Check her out in the DC Comics section or the website.
