I just saw on Kare-11 news this morning that Kristen Boyne, 32, our server at BLB, was attacked by two men near the Uptown Rainbow on Thursday night. She was on her way to the store when two men called her a " derogatory term for a gay woman". She asked why they were saying that to her. They proceeded to hit her in the face and stomach until she was unconscious. She was treated at HCMC. Police are looking for two male suspects. Kristen was interviewed on the news this morning. She looked okay, but obviously shaken up saying it seemed "very random".

Our thoughts go out to our favorite server. If anyone sees her before Feb 10th give her our best. And be careful walking around Uptown Rainbow.

I'll be there. If anyone has any great ideas for signs, hit me with them. My friends want to make signs, but considering that they do things like build giant vagina floats for the Pride Parade, I'm concerned about what they might come up with for me to carry around on Thursday.

I hope to make it. I encourage anyone who can to come support. I have a better chance of making it if you bring one of those floats, Carter.

Anyone who was able to make it to the walk, please send me a report or post it here (photos, too). Thanks.

The main thing I remember is the acute cognitive dissonance I experienced from the gigantic red Humvee that kept circling the block honking in support.

My friends and I hustled off to the bus, and home to hot-chocolate, as soon as the walk was over, but I'm glad we went.

A co-worker says she saw it on both Channel 4 & 5. Only about 5-10 seconds worth of coverage.

We raised over $350 for Kristen Boyne last night. Thanks to all for their generous support. Hope she can return to us soon.

Kristen wrote to us last night:

"Hey Jeff & B&B,
Due to the recent incident (assault), I will be out of work for a few months. Please be gentle with Jenn & Miki (servers). I'm sure they will do an excellent job serving this fabulous group of people. I'm looking forward to coming back to work and especially workning B&B. Be well.
I'll see you soon."
