I didn't clarify it or say that when the middle name, Hussein, is mentioned hysteria on the Left goes haywire. Also I was going to say that the press used to pronounce Bin Laden's name as Osama, until Obama started winning primaries, then they started with Usama because it decouples the natural inclination to garble Obama instead of Osama, much like Ted Kennedy did to Bin Laden's name by mistake (there are several different ways to spell names depending on the Muslim country the reason for the several different spellings of Momar Khadafi, Qadafy, Al Qaida, Al Qaeda, Al Jazeera, Al Jazira, etc.).

I mentioned Obama, because a previous comment said that George W. Bush falls into a stigma of names like Lolita. I don't normally open the political door in a discussion, but when someone else does in a negative fashion, then I take off the gloves.

Personally I don't understand why some of you have to make these immature political jabs. Destroying my image or disrespecting who I am just make your opinion or point is just wrong, and doesn't foster good civil discourse.

By the way who is Ron Jeremy?

All the names except Lolita were mentioned for humor.

The construction, "Adolf Hitler. Osama bin Laden. Carrot Top." should generate at least a teeny snigger.

GWB, especially with an established history of malapropisms and drunkenness, is a common butt of jokes.

Obama has had a short public life, and gets denigrated oft times only for having a sound alike name. His actions thus far have not generated anything like the gaff-ability GWB has.

And Ron Jeremy is a famous porn star, chubby and hairy as all get out, but with a long enough schlong to make a name (and career) for himself.

I'm surprised that the whole creepiness of the JonBenet Ramsey affair wasn't mentioned at B&B on tuesday.

Jenny touched upon it, but not by name. Those parents who have officially been cleared of their daughter's murder for the Nth time, did have the odious attention of dressing their 10 yr old daughter up like a 20 year old Tart. Which reminds me of the movie, "Little Miss Sunshine."

I recall seeing one of the Nth news magazine shows about the fact that there were numerous convicted sexual predators living in the neighborhood of the Ramsey family. The overhead street addresses of that neighborhood for those predators looked like buckshot spray on a target.

JonBenet may not have been mentioned, but Bratz and the sexualization of "tweens" was talked about a bit. There was a bit of a side discussion about whether 50's teen music was a really as innocent as some people may think and if our moral reaction against Humbert's (and Lolita's) actions gets undermined the more "grown up" young girls dress and try to act.

Humbert makes multiple mention of certain cultures where young women (older girls?) are married to men much their senior. Haven't the Hmong run into some troubles in in America because of their marriage traditions?

In case anyone is interested in more about Lolita and its influence on pop culture, I recently came across this new book, which delves more into some of the topics we discussed... like Bratz dolls and Amy Fisher.
